Death and Taxes by Dorothy Parker

Dorothy Parker wrote what she thought.
Death and Taxes many people bought.

A public face, a private heart -
She could tell the two apart.

She was bitter, she was weary,
But she would not let herself be teary.

She followed this rule to the letter -
The shorter the better.
